BBC Symphony Orchestra – George Crumb project

Nov.25, 2009

The BBC Symphony Orchestra (BBCSO), together with players from the Fulham Symphony Orchestra (FSO) will be performing at the Barbican on Saturday 5th December, to celebrate the work of contemporary composer “George Crumb”. As part of the Barbican’s Composer Immersion days, Nisha is playing 1st Violin in the BBC SO, in a new piece composed by Stephen Montague, inspired by George Crumb’s work.

This piece is very theatrical and has essences of Crumb’s spiritual and ethereal qualities as found in his composition “Star-Child”.

Musicians from the BBC SO will collaborate with dancers from dance conservatoire Laban and with a chorus of singers, culminating into a 30 minute pre-concert performance at 7.30pm. Entry is free for this sharing performance.

From 8pm, the evening concert will take place where the BBCSO will perform three pieces by Crumb.
